OUR HISTORY
🟡⚫ Brief History of Chadsmoor Wanderers FC
A young club with big ambition, born in Cannock and built on vision.
🌱 Foundation (2017)
-
Founded on 29 April 2017 by Benoit Dodd, then a 16‑year‑old entrepreneur with a stated mission: take a grassroots club from Chadsmoor all the way to the Premier League.
-
Established as a community-rooted football project, blending local identity with modern digital culture.
-
Early years focused on recruiting 16–18-year-old players, building a management structure, and forming the club’s first competitive squad.
🎮 Dual Identity: Football + Esports
-
From inception, CWFC positioned itself as a hybrid club, running both a football team and an esports division competing in major gaming tournaments under the Wanderers brand.
🏟 Growth, Branding & Infrastructure
-
The club established its home base in Cannock, training at local facilities such as the 5’s Pavilion in Hednesford during its early development phase.
-
CWFC invested heavily in brand identity, launching merchandise, a revamped website, and the “Chaderers” nickname as part of its emerging fan culture.
🤝 Local Football Integration
-
Founder Benoit Dodd held meetings with Hednesford Town FC’s owners and manager to seek guidance and build relationships within the regional football ecosystem — signalling CWFC’s intent to grow beyond grassroots.
📣 Community Engagement
-
The club launched initiatives such as the Official Chaderers Fantasy Premier League competition to build early fan engagement and digital presence.
